tortacular 's review for:
The Country of Ice Cream Star
by Sandra Newman
The dialect built in the book made it slow going at times. While I think the dialect certainly added some flavor and authenticity to the story, it was also cumbersome and in some ways detracted from my enjoyment. But maybe without the distinct dialect involved, the story told is less interesting. Certainly possible. A good book that is sometimes great and sometimes frustrating to read.
