I LOVED the POV character in this story. She was incredibly realistic and relatable—great side characters too. I also thought the overall arc of the story was well structured, but the ending was a bit TOO open-ended for me. I think it may have been on purpose, maybe for Kingfisher to revisit the characters if she wanted, so I get it on that level. The thing I love most about these shorter reads by her is how satisfying the stories are as a whole. I listened to this one (the narrator was great!) but kind of wished I would have read it physically for the first time.
