The Truth of the Aleke
by Moses Ose Utomi
Beautifully done continuation of what begins in The Lies of the Ajungo. I was confused how this would be a sequel when it takes place centuries after the events of the first book, but Utomi superbly brings it all together and it packs an even heavier punch once I began to figure it all out. The Truth of the Alke had me hooked from the very beginning, and it kept me guessing the entire time. The writing is stunning and the interrogations about truth, stories, and history were pure perfection. Osi is a lovable and fallible protagonist, which makes his journey even more intriguing and heartfelt.
