i was worried i wasn’t going to like this book and i’m glad to say i was proven wrong. once i picked it up and read the first couple of pages, i literally couldn’t put it down. it was such a fun and addictive read. i had hoped for more of a slow burn but i think i’ve gotten so used to reading really long romance books and forgot that most are about 400 pages max. it was mostly because i was surprised and a little annoyed that SPOILERS their first kiss happened so early on in the book and it wasn’t a “quick we need to act as if were a couple thing” SPOILERS OVER. however, it made more sense for that to have happened then otherwise it would have slowed down the plot and the reveal by a lot. other than that i do think the book was paced very well and i absolutely adored scott, he was the sweetest love interest i’ve read in a while that wasn’t sweet and a bit annoying. crystal was a character i really enjoyed reading about and found her funny. i’m not even joking when i say that these two had me laughing literally out loud within the first 20 pages of the book. i will say the writing style is a bit typical of a romance book but it was still well-written. ,y only main issue with this book was the fact that their grandparents got married and they still got together?? is that a normal thing in america or white communities because where i’m from that would be frowned upon and it made me very uncomfortable. had they ended up not marrying in the end then i would’ve felt less icky about it but neither character thought it was weird???
