Watched the movie for the first time 2 weeks ago and was immediately wanting more. This book didn’t disappoint! Mostly. Some sections were improved by being written (the bit at the end where dave enters the monolith and has a long ass light show). And i liked getting in dave and hal’s heads. Had some sad moments too. Franks death, and Daves reaction to it make me a lil weepy.

All that being said i feel there were some pacing issues. I wish there was more done with Hal freaking out and trying to solve his issue/murder crewmembers/keep them out of contact. But also before that! Its alluded to thru dialogue that F&D considered him their crewmate, i lowkey wanted to see more of their life on the ship before that happened.

And that leads into one other big thing. Reading this book really inspired me to create. By far the best scene in the book is “through the star gate” bcs it evoked such strong imagery in my mind. I wanna paint it! I wanna draw! I wanna sit myself down and publish something on ao3!!! Anything that gets me feeling like that gets a good grade in my book.
