Wherein we learn more about the Tha'alani, the Tha'alaan, the shape of water, and the Keeper.

Kaylin really can't keep her nose out of other people's business. To be fair, she was actually asked to become involved, and it involves missing children, a missing reliquary, and a missing fugitive. Kaylin is learning, finally, and her inability to learn in the classroom is less important. I really like her as a wonderfully flawed heroine. She grows in realistic and relate-able ways, and it doesn't change who she is. That is very refreshing, when many of the books I've read that are similar focus on how the heroine changes over time as a person - Kaylin simply grows as a person.
