The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
by Robert Louis Stevenson
This is one of the influences for the Hulk and Bruce Banner. It is a really interesting concept, and I love these kinds of flawed characters, who transform into something violent and angry. Well, in the case of Mr. Hyde, not necessarily angry, but more like evil. Another similar fictional character is Remus Lupin and his werewolf form. I think of these characters as having a hidden inner violence, or evilness, or anger. It's mostly uncontrollable, and their regular senses are gone. It makes for great inner conflict.
