what a silly story—they were about to consummate the marriage, argued about who forced the marriage to happen, an assassin comes in, and she accidentally turns him into a horse using her protection spell locket … and then, it loses steam aside from the witty one-liners here and there.
i’m not one for cozy fantasy, so that’s not a surprise that i thought it was lazy to spend majority of the book walking/trotting and yapping without any hint of understanding of the magical laws, political systems, or even a fleshed out mystery (too obvious! we met like three people). it also didn’t help that bianca and aric literally do not know how to pull it together when the fate of the kingdom(s) rest upon them, but here they are in love after knowing each other for like two seconds, but hey… best enjoyed if you’re there for the vibes (i never am).
