Suburban Hell by Maureen Kilmer

4.0

Fun, creepy, demonic, and crazy at times. This was a pretty well rounded story.

I don’t think you HAVE to be a suburban mother to save the world (or your neighbourhood, or your friends, or your family), but that narrative was kind of pushed strongly. It was a unique perspective for this particular tale, it put me in mind of Grady Hendrix’s “The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires” (although Suburban Hell is set during modern times). As a dog mom, I did like that everyone had pets, but the children and the slavery of the parents to the children was a bit “blah” for me to read personally.

Overall a definitely decent story, it may not appeal to everyone, as I see the main characters being hard to connect with if you’re not within their demographic.
