So end of summer last year, I soft DNF'ed this book because I was in a reading slump and just wasn't in the mood to read it. However, I have heard nothing but good things and was determined to pick it back up, so this year I did. And I am sooooo glad I did because wow, what a beautiful story! Both Jannie and Gus felt so three-dimensional and real, they could have been my very own best friends. I loved both of their stories of personal growth and how they lit each other up. We as humans are complexed and this was a perfect way to showcase that. This absolutely became one of my favorite books I've read this year.
