The Secret History by Donna Tartt

5.0

They call it a modern classic for a reason. And that reason itself is an inexpressible clutter for me. I am not here to convince you to read it but to express my inexpressible thoughts about it.

Have you ever read a good book and sighed "What the HELL was that !!!" ? After finishing Donna Tartt's , The Secret History , I did internally screamed.

The book focuses on a group of six classics students in an elite New England college who lives a classic life detached from their contemporaries. Their charismatic classics professor , Julian , who is the obvious reason behind the students being misfits in the college, unintentionally or otherwise makes them unable to distinguish the fantasy and reality separately which leads them towards a delusional immorality.

The book talks about obsessions and how they lead a person towards chaos. Isn't it ironic , to read a book about obsessions and  end up been obsessed with the book itself. This is not a book that you should binge read. You have to take it slowly in order to extract the full essence of this book. I didn't talk about the classic writing style here , because it is well known that Tartt writes exceptionally.
