Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

The book made me confused and excited at the same time. I read it right after I finished reading Babel so it took me quite awhile to get around of it. It's one of those books that I couldn't put down when it pique my interest, though I have spooked myself with my imagination of greys or ghosts that are described in the book.
♦️It was intriguing to read about the secret societies and their shady magic system. With every fantasy book, I always have hard time to understand how the magic works in that particular book and this was no different. At some point it felt like I was basically reading about alternative world of substance abuse and it's effects.
♦️What I like about these kind of books that the characters aren't that likable nor they're dislikeable. They have depths in them, mystery if you may. They aren't goodie two shoes and somewhat morally grey. In short I love reading about flawed, unhinged characters.
♦️This book had me on edge. There were so many questions and confusion throughout the book which made the book very engaging and enjoyable to me. I kept reading with the wishful thinking that I will find the answer to few and I did but with twists. Can't wait to start the second book.
