I've spent a lot of time with zombie stories over the years, but this is the first one that made me think stockpiling weapons and supplies may be a good idea. I've long held that one of the beauties of the zombie story is that it's a dystopia that is dystopia for everyone, unlike 1984, Handmaid's Tale or A Wrinkle in Time there's no person or group thinking that everything is exactly as it should be. This book belies this theory because the narrator's loneliness makes him feel that he is where he should be in the zombie apocalypse, that there is a meaning in fleeing for his life that was missing in his previous life in marketing. It's also funny and deliciously dense with words, more character driven literature than monster story.
