Be Not Far from Me by Mindy McGinnis

4.0

This book isn't what I thought it would be. I never thought an author would be able to take a story about a girl alone in the woods and make it interesting, but this book managed that.
I was enraptured by Ashley's story. I was rooting for her the entire time to make it out of those woods. I tried to imagine myself in her situation, and knew that there was no way I could ever come close to being as strong as she was.
My one complaint is only because I'm a dreamer at heart, and I wish that this book had had a bit of a happier ending. It seemed a little loose to me, considering how short the book was. We spend all this time in the woods with Ashley, and then McGinnis seems to rush through the ending, as if she's worried we won't want to stick with the story anymore.
Overall, a very surprising book. One that makes you think, which is not what I expected from this.
