Modern Lovers
by Emma Straub
"What Elizabeth couldn't imagine, not really, was that all the years in between had actually happened to her, and to Andrew, and to all their friends. That they had passed through those years unscathed, escaping with their lives and one another. It seemed mathematically unreasonable, to think that they were all still standing"
pg 331
As that particular chapter aptly summarises, the book is about how relationship (friendship and romance) have survived the unknown future, such that these have now taken a backseat to morph into those people's identities and past, as they face yet another impending but equally challenging unknown.
A suitable for closure of some friendships I've had. They were good while they lasted.
