A Short History of Nearly Everything
by Bill Bryson
funny
informative
reflective
medium-paced
I’m a Bill Bryson stan.
His talent for taking an extreme breadth of information and compiling it into an engaging text for a mass audience is unparalleled. In this case he covers, as the title indicates, nearly everything. Literally, the founding of the universe to the evolution of the human species to what’s going on at Yellowstone (ngl, don’t wanna think about that too much) is in this book. All written about in Bryson’s dry humored, but informative way.
The book was published in 2004 and occasionally the data, conversations, and research show. I would LOVE an updated version for 2025!
Highly recommend, especially on audiobook!
