This was such a glorious, stressful read. Literary rollercoaster if I ever picked on up. The way each character was written made them jump off the page and into my heart, even if some ... a ton of their decisions drove up my blood pressure. What I truly appreciated about this novel is how it challenged ideas about the family dynamic, including what that means specifically for black immigrant families. And all while encouraging the nursing of your own familial connections even if it's hard to accept the situations into which you may be born.
