This is one of the most boring books I've ever read. I wanted to like it, I kept hoping it would get better, and honestly the only reason I finished it is because it's a book club book.
Each chapter featured a different point of view, a different story, and sometimes only a glimpse at Olive Kitteridge. In theory I like this, I think it's really interesting to see how someone can be a main character or a side character or even just an extra in someone else's life. But it didn't work for me here. It felt disjointed, super confusing, and unresolved.
This book felt mundane. It was following Olive's life over the years, however vaguely, but oh wow was it boring. It's not at all that she's an unlikeable MC, though she rather is, but I do think she has a good heart - you can see it a few times throughout the book.
I hope there are people out there who find a book like this enjoyable, but it was not for me.
