The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien

5.0

I avoided reading these because I was afraid of the poems and extended imagery that I thought would make it difficult to get through. Skip the poems and don't feel bad about it. But this was wonderful! I really enjoyed every minute of it and couldn't put it down! The story is rich and engaging and I can't imagine how it must have felt to finish without having the second one handy to start. One line in particular stood out to me as a sort of personal lesson. Sam tells Frodo "Its the job that's never started as takes the longest to finish." And their conclusion from this is, well, let's get on to Mordor then! Its such a spirit and a motivation that I can learn from.
