Fate of the Fallen by Kel Kade

I took a week off from reading and this was the perfect book to ease me back in. This is a fun fantasy adventure story with some great humour which made me laugh. You know those Disney movies that feature horses that have as much hilarious personality as the main characters? Well you should read this for Dolt alone. He's a scream.

This story features some of my favourite tropes of prophecies and chosen ones, and I love how the author plays around with them. Also, extra points for including meddling Gods. They always add an extra level of enjoyment for me.  Ms. Kade has crafted a unique take on such traditional tropes and I honestly had no idea where this story was going to go.

There were plenty of likeable characters in here. My favourites being Aaslo for his stubborness and determination and Myropa for her sweetness and her role within the story.  While it took me a few chapters to get into this; I was fully invested in these characters well before I reached the halfway point.

Along with a great cast of characters and an original plot, I absolutely adored the dry and often morbid humour in here. This could have been a much darker story given some of the things that happen, but that humour and sarcasm kept it lighter and the story flew by. I need the sequel ASAP!!!
