This was a really good one, just a hair away from my top ten list for the year. At heart, this is a coming-of-age story, in which the fresh-out-of-college protagonist realizes that the world is more complicated, and that it is more difficult to sort out good guys and bad guys, than he had at first imagined. Highly recommended, especially, if the McCarthy era is one of your reading fetishes.
