As a murder mystery goes, really good. The author set up an impossible set of circumstances and poor Joe had to figure it out.
I probably could’ve knocked this book out in a day but the story got so bleak that I had to take a break in order to finish it. I think this book to a very genuine look at what actually happens after you solve a murder and how justice sometimes feels really crappy but the right thing is the right thing regardless of how it makes you feel. Also Joe is remarkably flawed while also managing to be a decent guy
okay so originally I hated the fact Joe kissed vicky bc it felt unnecessary and gross but! I have thought about it and come to realize that I think it was necessary to the plot (not in life cheating is gross) for Joe to realize he’s not the perfect saint he thought he was. He’s just as capable of making mistakes as his mom and Lila he just has to be a man about stopping and making amends before it goes as far. Anyway. It was an interesting plot point that I initially hated and have come to terms with
