Alexius
by Bella J.
2.5
This book was fine. I actually think I would've enjoyed reading it a lot more than listening to it. I really didn't like the male narrator.
*Spoilers*
Leandra was the biggest wilting flower. There was absolutely nothing to her personality beyond, I was traumatized as a child and I want dick. That was it. I don't think she had a single thought beyond those two things. She is marrying this big bad mob guy, who we never see do anything big or bad, and doesn't think about it long term? She has no thought about what will be expected of her or how that will look. She just jumps and then feels bad about her choices later.
Also how FREAKING inconceivable it is that Alexius choose some random girl off the street? How did they even find her? How was she on their radar? Is there a registry of all the Italian girls in Chicago somewhere that I don't know about?
Also the insta lust in this was annoying. There was not a single moment where these two felt like they might be moving towards love. Not a one. I guess you can count when he let his brother fuck her with him, to "help her get over her trauma". I don't know how that helped but apparently it did?
I got so sick of Alexius talking about how big and bad he was. Like dude, words are cheap, brother. Also we never got any sort of insight into what he did as the leader beyond fuck women and be angry at his uncle.
Also, the dialogue in this was super cringy. I hated that Alexius opened up 0%, and our dumb, wilting flower Leandra, was spilling all her deepest darkest secrets with him. I've never told anyone this but some big bad mob boss who I met 2 seconds.
Also this entire book takes place in like 2 weeks. From meeting to marriage to fucking. That's it. I'm suppose to think they have some deep soul connection or some shit after less that 2 weeks. Well alright then. I don't know if I'll continue on. I won't waste audible credits on it. But it is on Kindle Unlimited so we shall see. Overall this was so freaking disappointing after the high reviews.
