The Corsair's Captive by Ruby Dixon

3.0

I wasn't sure what I was getting into. I've never read an alien/human story before so I thought, what the heck, I'll give it a try!

It wasn't....amazing. I mean the writing seemed a little...eh. Not really detailed and some of the speech was off. Plus...I never thought I'd hear the word 'fascinating' said so many times. And in one chapter!

Fran, the female human, was...rather annoying. At first. She kept referring to her inner self as 'Duh Fran', which kind of sounded....a little whiny and cheesy.

However, the story was pretty engaging. Started out with the alien, known as Kivian, and showed his pirate life and how he's not wanting to settle down. Instead, he's busy swindling in bars with scavengers for crystals and being so charming and funny. I loved Kivian! The gentleman reading the audiobook gave me a perfect picture of who he was and I loved hearing him read instead of Fran. Also, the fact that he was so sweet, charming, and caring made him so much better to read!

The story was action packed, funny, cheesy, and a little steamy. Overall, it wasn't perfect, but I'm definitely happy I tried this out. Also, I'm definitely considering reading the other three books.
