False Start by Nicole Dykes
4.0
I read False Start by Nicole Dykes, Book 3 in Nicole’s Big Bend series and it was really sweet and wholesome read. I read it in one sitting.
This is the story of Vaughn and Austin, who have been best friends and inseparable since childhood. They are both finishing up their senior year in high school. I liked that this book followed them through the transition from high school to university.
Vaughn is a football star with a girlfriend and Austin is an academic and hopelessly in love with his best friend. They’re both planning to head off to university, Vaughn thinks they’re going together but Austin has other plans. He wants to create some distance and go elsewhere to try to move on from his crush on Vaughn.
Vaughn was such a sunshine character, a protector, he adored cuddling his best friend and was completely oblivious to his own feelings. I loved watching his figure it out! Austin was such a sweetheart, he was so respectful of Vaughn’s relationship and his hesitation when Vaughn realised his feelings was completely understandable.
I adored watching their friendship develop into a relationship, they both were hopelessly codependent and cared so deeply for each other.
I really appreciated the way Vaughn’s relationship with his girlfriend unfolded and with his football teammates at university.
I’m definitely intrigued about a big bend character that was featured and I’m sure we will get his story, which I will definitely be reading.
