This is similar to the TV series that it adapted (not exact, obviously).
I cannot remember a Jasmine in the TV series (it's been a while). Maybe there was.
The only one who could try to figure out who killed his mother, even all these years later. The anguish of a son, to do his mother right...and all the baggage that comes with it.
The tone of the story is the same...even the guy who condemned his house, though I think that THAT even changed a bit, but I wasn't worried, for the mystery is solved...by the tenacity of Det. Harry Bosch.
The smoking issue is now becoming comical, for he doesn't give a S whether there's a No Smoking sign or not.
Loved the coyote aspect of the story, too. Not sure that was in it, but it fit in the written story, while putting it in the TV series may have been odd.
I am wondering when/if there is going to be a daughter in the mix (like the TV series).? Interesting.
