daumari 's review for:
Assassin's Quest
by Robin Hobb
adventurous
emotional
slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven:
A mix
Strong character development:
Yes
Loveable characters:
Complicated
Diverse cast of characters:
No
Flaws of characters a main focus:
Yes
Confession: wasn't bowled away by this, and I don't know if that's because I have high expectations when Hobb is so highly spoken of, but there's plenty of other Elderlings novels to read so we'll see.
This ending also felt a little abrupt to me, at the end which was surprising given the slow pacing earlier. I appreciate seeing a flawed protagonist though, and Fitz is someone who will put both palms down on the eye if you tell him not to touch a hot stove. Nighteyes remains my favorite, followed by Kettricken.
We actually do own Ship of Magic so I could just jump to that...
