Baptism of Fire
by Andrzej Sapkowski
adventurous
dark
slow-paced
I’m genuinely torn by this book.
The first half is a slog, so difficult to endure for its drawn-out descriptions of absolutely nothing happening that I almost quit reading. And can everyone give my favorite sassy bitch Dandelion a break, please?
But then I came to the second half, and I was so blown away by the dynamics of the ensemble cast that I became smitten with Milva and Regis and even Cahir. It is such a lovely fellowship of weirdos taking care of one another. It makes the slog worth it.
So yeah, this rounds up to four stars, and I guess I’m hooked for the next in the series.
