I’m in love with this series. Each book just keeps getting better, and I feel like I get a deeper understanding of the characters and world-building every time.
Benito and Harlow’s relationship is so sweet. Bloody, but still, they were made for each other.
I love Harlow. My new 2025 goal is to aspire to be like him. Damn, the man can fight, and he never backs down. I love that about him. I’m always drawn to characters with a big attitude.
Also, who would’ve thought Benito was the kinkiest one? I don’t even know who my favorite brother is anymore. The glimpses of previous couples appearing throughout the book just made me even more attached to all of them. But I have to say, I love Tex and Gin’s personalities haha
One of my favorite things is when an uptight, serious character spills their feelings when they’re drunk, and Benito is exactly like that. Being on the receiving end of that can be difficult and painful, but those moments of vulnerability between him and Harlow were so sweet. Whenever Benito let his walls down, even just a little, it was endearing.
But. The only issue I had with this book was the Japanese in Harlow’s parts. It was just off. There were a lot of mistakes, some of them so ridiculous they were hard to ignore. It also didn’t feel like how I’d imagine a yakuza would speak, and on top of that, his dialogue was inconsistent. The way he spoke would randomly change, and it completely took me out of the story. Huge turn-off. Also, as someone who speaks Portuguese, he could’ve just said Te amo—it would’ve felt way more natural. Don’t get me wrong, I love language barriers in books, but this one just kept reminding me that I was reading instead of letting me stay immersed in the world.
That being said… damn, the plot twist was twisting. I did not see that coming. The way things turned at the wedding and everything that happened after? Insane.
Also, Benito becoming a dad was everything I needed. He already had so much on his shoulders, and I’m just so glad he finally got the family he dreamed of having.
I can’t wait to read the next book!
