Turtles All the Way Down by John Green

3.0

I think John Green is a much better nonfiction writer than he is a fiction writer. Rereading this after reading his essay collection, I grow more and more confident in that thought. The mental health representation and the general musing of and about existence, life, and what it is to be human are the strongest parts of this novel-- they're strongest parts of all Greens novels in my opinion. But when it comes to plot and character things always tend to fall very flat to me. The characters feel unreal apart from Aza, the plot isn't really there and will taper in and out of the story... I think had the representation of OCD/anxiety not been so well done this story would've been a 1-2 star rating for me.
