This book was so cute and fun. We read this as a Book Club book for the month of August at the Bookstore I work at (Bookish Modesto shoutout) it was such a fun read! Everyone agreed it was an easy 4 stars, it was exactly what we all wanted it to be, expected it to be, and even more than that.
Beth is so lovable and fun, and in my own way I can connect with her on many levels, she is brilliant and thoughtful and I understand why Devon is so smitten instantly. Learning from a fellow book club reader that India Holton writes neurodivergent characters* added a new layer of love for these characters and the way they think. If you want a fun, light hearted romance this is the one. The dialogue and banter between characters is so fun and entertaining and well thought out. The cast of side characters were so creative and funny, they added extra funny bits to every chapter. Each page will have you smiling or laughing or both, which is a masterpiece of a book to me.
I do wish we had a little bit more background on Beth and Devon, or more fleshing out of the hints of backstory we got. But this is a stand alone in a connected universe, I’m hoping the next book will feature at least a little bit of some backstory or future for our Ornithologists.
*she wrote specifically neurodivergent characters for this story but as far as I know her previous works also feature neurodivergent leaning main characters
