Let's Talk About Love
by Claire Kann
No cuz I told myself SO many times that romance isn't my thing and I shouldn't actively go and pick up a book that focuses on it and YET,,,,
I do think that this book does a good job at exploring asexuality from different angles, holding up a certain kind of experience which shows that asexuality is indeed a spectrum and everyone experiences it differently. The characters are all very likeable; they are relatable and realistic. They talk in a realistic way, which is something that's a bit rare to find in books sometimes. I also think that the struggles that Alice goes through are all very deeply connected with the real life, and I could understand many of the decisions she took. Moreover, I enjoyed the diversity. There are already very few books with asexual characters, and black asexual representation is even more rare. So yeah, those are some good points.
The only reason this book is getting 3 stars from me is that there was nothing particularly remarkable, and there was a lot of cheese. Neither of those are bad in a general sense, they are just not aligned to my taste. The romance wasn't my type either. In all honesty, it just reminded me why I prefer not to read romance anymore. I only picked this book up cuz I wanted to understand asexuals better (I'm writing an aroace character for my book) and I think I got I wanted for sure. This was an okay book, definitely not deserving any less than 3 stars :)
