Reflections on a Gift of Watermelon Pickle by Stephen Dunning

3.0

#sealychallenge Day 4. Reflections on a Gift of Watermelon Pickle…

Whimsy, curt, cute.
Here were some of my faves:

Some Brown Sparrows
about the non-trapped animals that infiltrate the zoo.

Deer Hunter
A boy dreads the day his cousins will take him hunting.

The Toaster
Talking about handing your bread to a toaster and it then in turn, handing it back quite violently lol

Steam Shovel
About how construction equipment looks like dinosaurs lifting their heads from far away

Very imaginative, a fun way to make sense of nonsense in rhyme and image.

Published 1966, rhyme is truly king and normally I do t enjoy rhyming poems these days, perhaps I still don’t but these worked for it.
