The Queen's Bargain
by Anne Bishop
There's all the structure of a classic Blood novel, we have our heroine, an unwitting villain and a comeuppance which for once is surprisingly lenient in it's execution.
And on the other side, we have the terrible main storyline of Daemon and Surreal's relationship (if you want to call it that), falling into some terrible parody of itself wherein Surreal becomes terrified of Daemon's true nature, no communication is had and we end up with a terrible conclusion where Surreal is in a loveless relationship, Daemon is reunited with the ghost of his lost love, no one is happy and no one is together. Great.
And turns out there's another book coming out. Oh god.
