The Dinner Guest by B.P. Walter
2.0

Severely underwhelming. The book starts well, leaving you with a lot of questions and intrigue. As you fall further through the book, these questions are answered flat.

Each chapter seems to set up the next one to keep you reading, but each time fails to deliver. The only thing that kept me reading was the hope something would happen to make it worth while. Yes there was a few surprises and revelations, but they was all very predictable or just not very good.

None of the characters where likeable, and every decision just seemed, either too far fetched or too tame to be relatable. Even after the book is said and done anything a character has done to become remotely likeable is undone in an instant.

The mystery element of this book is by far it’s shining light, but unfortunately it fails to deliver. I feel as though I could have just read the first few pages and last few pages and filled the rest with a more coherent and enjoyable story.

Obviously this is just my opinion, and I don’t think it’s a bad book, I just didn’t enjoy the story or decisions made by almost every character.

2/5 could have been a fair bit higher if only the overall story felt more natural and not as forced.
