Song of Solomon
by Toni Morrison
toni morrison’s ability to weave everyday stories with the fantastical is incredible. can i explain what happened in this book concisely? not really, but i loved it and ill try and describe the premise.
this story follows the life of Milkman Dead, a Black man living up in the Northern U.S. who is surrounded, even suffocated, by the history of his family and their fragmented reactions to trauma and loneliness. Each character is flawed in a way that is realistic and sometimes frustrating, which made them all very believable.
