Endgame: The Betrayal and Fall of Srebrenica, Europe's Worst Massacre Since World War II by David Rohde

dark emotional informative sad medium-paced

horrifyingly vivid. it's easy to want to push it away, tell yourself that it happened in a different time, that nothing like this could possibly happen in our world, because how could so many people be failed so appallingly? every sentence was a punch in the gut and the epilogue was the most painful of all. that over eight thousand lives were lost and thousands more brutalised alongside them in such an avoidable series of events is unbelievable.
