The Picture of Dorian Gray
by Oscar Wilde
ok wow wow wow this is now one of my favorite classics ever!!!
the picture of dorian gray is rich, horrible, tragic, striking. it tells the story of a man's spiral into corruption, about the cruelty of beauty, the fangs of temptation. oscar wilde's writing contains within it such a unique, strangely contemporary style -- it's as poignant as it is thought-provoking. this book unabashedly dissects the human condition through paradoxical, vivid terror... & yet it leaves the reader with such a tender impression. it's unforgettable. it's addictive.
5/5. i find it funny how the book that warns against temptation will always continue to tempt me
