“No. Complete sentence.”
I enjoyed this. It was a very fast-paced whodunnit that I finished in 24 hours. I appreciated the sarcasm and dark humor of the protagonist, and the indifference and audacity of her grandmother. The characters were deeply flawed, which made them real, though I thought they made many very stupid decisions. I also felt that the romance subplot in the present timeline detracted from the story and was an unnecessary addition.
I thought the podcast aspect of the storyline provided a unique perspective, and added a fun element to the audiobook version. This book was a hit-close-to-home example of any given women's experience with men who don't understand “no” is a complete sentence, and the all too real consequences of that reality. I enjoyed the mystery of it all and the ambiguity over the protagonist's role. Did she or didn't she?
