Kumların Kadını
by Kōbō Abe
I classify this book as a deep one. I found it very horrifying, at least the writer takes you to that cabinet with you. Makes you stuck in the sand, makes you try to escape (I read these parts with my heartbeat increased), makes you buried in mud, makes you return that cabinet again... But the end?
God, the end makes you question yourself dozens of times. What would I do? What the heck would I do?
This is why I found this book really horrifying. It makes you confront yourself and you maybe realize that you are already buried in your own sand?
Maybe I also think that I have two ways ticket and I have the choice to leave whenever I want. Maybe this is an illusion that I made myself believe, too.
Re-thinking the book... Anyone who is brave enough for a confrontation should read it. The writer makes you feel every detail about that damn sand. It's 1/8 mm diameter.
