Lying on the Couch by Irvin D. Yalom

5.0

I was not expecting to like this book so much. Basically, there are 3 main characters—each of them psychoanalysts—and they all have different ways to treat their patients and different ways to understand what the fathers of psychology identified as being the best way to interact with your pacient. It was very interesting to see that they all wanted the best for their patients but they did not approve of each other's methods. Some of the methods were unconventional, but one can say that they actually worked?(the case of Seymour Trotter). I'm gonna start reading other reviews because I'm really curious about the photo that Ernest receives. I mean — who deceived who, did the treatment worked, who is the bad guy, what really happened?! I really wanted there to be more about that case.

Moving on, although it was the story that interested me the least, I wanted to see the character development of Marshal Streider.

And lastly, concerning Ernest Lash, towards the end I was so keen to find out happened after the truth was out in the open aaaand the book ended. IT ENDED.

What I mean is that I wanted to read these stories AFTER the end in the book. Hopefully there will be a second book with the aftermath—I would definitely read it.
