I had such a great time with this book. It made me laugh out loud several times, and I really felt for all the principal characters. Ekaterin continues to delight as a narrator, and the scene where she unleashes Nikki on his father's cousin will stay in my memory for a long time. So will the butter bug dinner party. The bugs turned it all the way around from farce to genuine feeling, and back again. I want some bug butter ice cream, please.

2024 reread: even on a second read, this book made me stay up till 3 am because I was having such a fun time.
