really enjoyed this one and its wide ranging setting, the gentle unfolding of Harrison as a character who shifts from seemingly peripheral in his own story to the heart of it all. the times the novel is set reflect in many ways our own. the takeaway for me is the value in knowing a place deeply and seeing the world in all its layers. in loving, and in the power of small particularities that make a life. appreciated the throughline of shifting boundaries of whats acceptable public rhetoric, how the collective conscience so easily swayed by the “media howlers”
