Record of a Spaceborn Few by Becky Chambers
5.0
I adore Becky Chambers writing, I love The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet and A Closed and Common orbit.
I was very excited to win an early release copy of Record of a Spaceborn Few. It did not disappoint. It made me smile, laugh and cry.
I feel like it a better written book than her previous two. It is more similar to Long Way then Closed and Common orbit was. But Long Way was still a bit more fun & adventurous. Record sticks to the Fleet and really gives you a full picture of life there. You get to see the fleet from a variety of viewpoints that made it feel like a real and deep place. I really loved that. You get to know these characters and their home. While loose on any firm plot, I like this style of writing anyway. You follow regular people and see their thoughts and relationships to each other and their home.
I can’t recommend this book enough. I’d rank this similar to The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet, but in a different way. I could see some people liking this less than that one, and others liking it more.
