Seeing all the high ratings and reviews, I thought I was going to love it, and I really wanted to as I always crave 5-star books, especially sci-fi, but unfortunately no, this was very disappointing or maybe I should say: "It was just ok!" as my rating suggests. The first 50 pages were so slow paced, and the writing style was not really appealing, feeling pretentious at times. Then, I thought it was taking a "Project Hail Mary" type of turn with the creature inside their ship and got excited, but no, the aliens were not given personalities and left out of the plot, whatever the plot was, since it was more character-driven... Sorry to disappoint the majority, but I respect you! :)
