Circe and the Cyclops by Homer

4.0

i have both of homer’s well-known tales, the iliad and the odyssey and yet i have never tried to dive into it anytime soon as the sheer thickness of both books intimidates my ability to digest them in the amount of time i often set for myself thus i’m still waiting for the right moment to pick the books up.

penguin’s circe and the cyclops came into existence from the selected episodes off homer’s original, the odyssey. as odysseus recollect his experience of his voyage back from the war in troy, we were told of his meetings with cyclops as well as the goddess circe (whom i have been enchanted by since my reading of madeline miller’s circe).

knowing how much i love classics, i’ve always been recommended by a good friend of mine to give penguin’s little black classics collection a go because i’ve always been interested in reading works of nietzsche or dostoyevsky and now that i’ve given homer’s a go, i am much more determined to collect the entirety of this interesting collection by penguin. it even enticed me to pick my full copy of the odyssey now!

definitely a much needed short read!
