Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
5.0

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had a bit of a slow start, but I quickly became invested in almost all of these characters.

Leigh Bardugo does multiple perspectives brilliantly in my humble opinion. Normally when I read books with more than one POV, I find at least one perspective sorely lacking and thus become incredibly frustrated when the perspectives change and I'm torn away from the thing I actually want to read about. Here though, I found each POV incredibly engaging.

I thought that the balance between the past and the present was done well also. Again, a good chunk of the time when I read flashbacks, I find myself irritated because they take away from whatever gripping thing is happening in the present. But here I found myself equally invested in both the past and the present. That's not to say that there weren't boring parts with some of the characters, but they didn't last long and overall I loved getting to know each character.

I think everything up until the main event might feel slow for some people, but overall I really enjoyed the pacing and the time spent on character development. I have high hopes for the sequel since the characters are already so fleshed out.
