As a senior software engineer 9 years in the field, this book hit me really profoundly. I work someplace that feels very relatable to a lot of the themes, standards and practices talked about in this book. This definitely helped me understand the type of maturity and steps it takes to transition into that next level role, even if I’m not immediately ready right now, it certainly helped make the path ahead seem clearer. I also have a better appreciation for those in a Staff or leadership position, as I understand better their responsibilities and what they go through. One of the best books I’ve read thus far in my career, it was so enlightening, like in one of those Claritin clear commercials where suddenly after reading it you’re like ohhh wow everything is so much clearer and brighter and makes so much more sense!! How did I miss so much of this and not realize? It motivates me to be a more mature, responsible “adult” and keep growing in my career. I can see myself referencing sections over again the future, the author feels like a true expert who is extremely knowledgeable in both soft and hard skills.
