The Nesting by C.J. Cooke

4.0

I really enjoyed this one. The Nesting is full of mystery, highly developed characters, and tons of Nordic folklore. If you can read something and let it take you where it wants to, this is the book for you. If you have a hard time getting into the fantasy of ghost stories, maybe not. I just let it drag me around and enjoyed the whiplash it left me with. The atmosphere was my favorite part, by far but I also really loved the main character as well.

Tom Faraday lost his wife, Aurelia, to suicide while he was building her dream house. Through his grief, he wants to continue on without her to honor her with finishing the task. Lexi Ellis takes a new job as Tom’s nanny and really falls in love with his two young daughters who are still mourning the loss of their mother. Something feels off in this isolated house far away from the town. Lexi sees mysterious things constantly and once she find’s Aurelia’s diary things take an even more haunting turn.
