Dr. Stanton by T.L. Swan

SpoilerThis is the second book I’ve read by this writer and it will be the last. This book was not good. I held on at it had such good reviews I thought I might I just be missing something, but I wasn’t. Here are the problems:

1.) language problems. Why are American characters using UK/Aussi word choice and slang. It was super off putting. This would have easily been fixed by having an American editor, and it took me out of the story. Secondly, the French was really poorly written, and I don’t understand why you would add a second language and not get a native speak to read those few phrases

2.) the idea that Cameron wouldn’t be able to track her down with almost infinite resources, when all he would have needed to do was call the hotel and ask for her name since he had her room number is maddening. Also, his brother is a millionaire computer programmer, but he couldn’t access his contacts from the cloud? Wtf

3.) misogyny. The way they talk about sex workers, while working alongside/being clients of said sex workers was gross. Ashley is seen as a good woman taking care of her child, but the rest of the sex workers are seen as addicts with bad judgement.

They way the brothers call each other pussies, and woosies. The general toxic masculinity. The absolutely stereotypical one demential gay character who runs a multi millionaire dollar company while also having time to be “one of the girls” going shopping and out to lunch on a whim again I repeat wtf

4.) absolutely zero research about how medical school works?!! Like you’re gonna have both main characters be doctors and not have a mild understanding of the different requirements of med school degree. Apparently Ashley is so magical she doesn’t need to do a residency, matching, on call etc. do 15 minutes of research.
